Urban Innovation

Innovation

Innovation is apparent throughout Extension's history and remains essential in the urban context.  Innovation is also alive and well across urban university campuses and metropolitan areas. Innovation research and practice relevant to Extension includes a variety of interests such as organizational innovation (Wolfe, 1994), technological innovation (Utterback, 1971), disruptive innovation (Christensen, 1997), open innovation (Chesbrough, 2003), and social innovation (Scozzi, Ettorre, Bellantuono, & Pontrandolfo, 2014). Various resources detail innovation competencies for individuals, teams, and organizations.
