    This interactive workshop will explore how identities, beliefs, and backgrounds shape our perceptions of other people in ways that can unconsciously widen the diversity gap and negatively influence the people with whom we interact.     MetroLab Network and Smart Cities Lab are designing a research and action competition in the smart and connected communities domain with support from the National Science Foundation. The first phase of the Civic Innovation Challenge is the Ideas Competition, which asks you - researchers, government employees, nonprofits, residents — to identify challenges and priorities in your cities and communities that can benefit from technical exploration, scientific discovery, and new approaches.

    Every year UN-Habitat and partners organize a month of activities, events and discussions around urban sustainability in October. This year, Urban October will begin with World Habitat Day on 1 October and end with World Cities Day on 31 October. The theme for World Habitat Day is Municipal Solid Waste Management, and for World Cities Day is Building Sustainable and Resilient Cities. Follow this link to read more.
